E-name and E-number

XDI - (XRI Data Interchange) An emerging OASIS standard for a high-level directory, data exchange and data synchronization service on the Internet. XDI is designed to do two things: to improve searching on the Web and to provide an automatic data updating service. XDI is based on XRIs (Extensible Resource Identifiers), made up of human-friendly „e-names“ and machine-oriented „e-numbers.“ XDI also introduces two new service organizations: „XDI registrars“ for name registration and „XDI service providers“ for data synchronization.
