The Georgian Media about the Social Price of the Market Reform

In the Soviet Union the propaganda of a need to move to the market economy began in the "Perestroika" times. The idea became a popular topic of the Georgian media which has immediately followed the new wave of the central mass communication. This process faced, technically, no holdbacks. Although, later it became clear that both the media and the society were captured by some infantile ideas. The experts knew beforehand that the reforms couldn't go painless and smooth but as a rule, they avoided talks about this publicly.

The media had no serious, honest and open talks on this topic. Some of the publicists and politicions tried to warn the society about the upcoming huge social price of those changes. Although, they explained that without this it would be impossible to go forward and reach new levels of the social, economical and cultural develpoment.

All these problems did not charactarize only the Georgian reality but also other Soviet republics and the countries of so called Soviet camp faced the same difficulties.
