One Georgian Manuscript of the XI Century Kept in Moscow

The Georgian Gospel (Щук-760) kept now in Moscow should belong to a royal family or the Georgian high-ranking official.

This wonderful manuscript of the 11th century represents a masterpiece of book art. It is full of illuminations, miniatures and capital letters decorated with plants.

The manuscript was bound in silver. As the result of earlier restoration the middle of the setting was well restored on the new leather binding.

The manuscript needs to be renewed, and that is what the Russian restorators are going to do.
