Janjgava N. The evolution of the military thought and combat plans in Europe before the First World War. - Tbilisi: TSU - 2003 - 62 p. - in Georgian.

The First World War or "The Great War" had an important role in the history of the 20th century. The analysis of the German "Schlieffen Plan" and French "Plan XVII" shows the differences of the two methods of military planning. Mathematically correct counting of the military capabilities of opponent, but ignoring the political, economic and cultural aspects of war, and on the other hand counting only the moral issues - the "Plan" of warfare, instead of the power of modern weapons. The combat plans of Russian and Austro-Hungarian Empires were organized and heavily influenced by their partners, France and Germany. This work is describing the evolution of the military thought and plans of the belligerent sides - "Entente" and "Triple Alliance", in a pre-war period, and shows the real development of the situation during the first battles of the war.
